I wish there would be another solution for connection, not just USB-C, for longer distances.

That would be very cool. I'd like to have a Micro 4k G2 on a gimble in an auditorium. To have full control from the av booth would be sweet.

... tell me how to do all the basic settings (in the 'deeper' Meneu - not the HUD Menu/Display) for the camera using Rest API over cable - as far as I saw, the REST API don't support those settings - and there is no App or Bluetooth connection.
By now it is only possible with the buttons on the camera - viewing the menu settings over HDMI.
And if there are problems with the HDMI, you are lost.

Look harder, it’s all there. There are only 1 or 2 funtions that aren’t available via the API. Further the API allows access to things like the color corrector that aren’t accessible thru the menus.

This doesn’t have a USBC Monitor Out, just an HDMI—so it defeats the purpose if you are trying to get it to work with the Pyxis Monitor.

This doesn’t have a USBC Monitor Out, just an HDMI—so it defeats the purpose if you are trying to get it to work with the Pyxis Monitor.

Time will tell, there’s no reason the interface couldn’t support UVC or some other low latency standard. Honestly alt-dp is a little thick datawise and doesn’t leave a ton of bandwith for recording, camera control, etc.,

It needs Display Alt DP since that is what the Pyxis Monitor uses. You can't use a Touchscreen with HDMI as it provides no control.

I wonder if they could add playback functionality via the pyxis monitor? This would be a great addition if they can sort out running both the monitor and capturing to ssd!

They probably could. It seems like on the new firmware either they added all the touchscreen features to the existing firmware or completely ported over the touchscreen firmware over.

I see this hub has a PD input as well, and this makes me think:

1) Will the Micro G2 be able to power both the SSD and monitor without needing external power from the PD input?
2) As far as I know, the Micro G2 can't be powered via USB-C, so if you feed power to the PD input of the USB hub, will there be any risk of damaging the Micro G2?
3) I don't see any specs regarding the speed of the USB-C data port on the hub.

I’ve been reading some articles on USB-C displayport, and there appears to be consensus that these types of ports support power delivery by default. Not sure about standardized voltages though. Not a clear cut answer, but it’s something(if I understood correctly). I’m not sure how to post urls, so try google searching usb c displayport alt mode.

I've been following the discussion here for a bit and am wondering if it wouldn't be better to implement the Video Assist 5 or 7" with the new firmware. This would solve the problem with the recording medium (SSD or memory card). Of course, it would be nice if the Pyxis monitor also worked, but not at the expense of performance with the storage medium or even limitations in recording quality.

I'm not sure if they truly know. Pyxis monitor without SSD is mostly useless.

We've recently paired the Blackmagic Micro Studio Camera G2 with a PYXIS Monitor. The camera is running the latest Blackmagic Camera 9.6 firmware.

When connecting the monitor via USB-C, we’ve tried both a standard USB-C cable and the specific cable that comes with the Blackmagic remote control (the one with the screw-locking wheel for securing the connection) , the PYXIS screen remains black. The backlight turns on, but no image appears.

We're wondering:

- Has anyone else experienced this issue?
- Is the included cable possibly not suitable for video output?
- Is a specific type of USB-C cable required for this setup?

Any insights or shared experiences would be greatly appreciated!

Yes I had this issue as well. Could not use the Blackmagic cable, but a thunderbolt cable works.

However, this update is really gamechanging in terms of usability. A little sad that the Status Text cannot be toggled on the SDI like all other blackmagic cameras. Had hoped this would be on pair with the other cameras as this is extremely practical. Maybe there has been a technical limitation.

You need cables specific for USB video delivery. Or a Thunderbolt cable as they have smaller tolerances.

Pyxis monitors are on sale right now in Germany - Teltec, Videodata, Mediatec.
Maybe they know something we don't know.
