Setup for wildlife -help!

PostMon Oct 29, 2012 5:26 pm

Hi,

I want to use the BMCC to wildlife documentary, don´t need a shoulder mount cause will film always on tripod.
Below are some parts of the setup that have already decided, so I want to ask your opinion about the best rig/cage for my needs, and also about the acessories that I'v chosen and others that you thing are best for my needs...

- will use it with one of this lens (not yet decided) canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8 IS II with and without TC 1.4x and 2x or sigma 120-300mm f/2.8 OS also with and without TC's;

- sigma 8-16mm or tokina 11-16mm;

- canon 24-70mm or canon 24-105mm or other brand with similar lens;

- two switronix batteries with V mount plate (dont know wish plate is better to also power EVF and zoom H4n);

- 4 SSD 240Gb sandisk;

- afordable shotgun mic, dont know if I should conect it to BMCC with adaptor or conect it to zoom H4n that already own;

- Alphatron EVF-035W-3G powerd by switronix;

- Afordable cage/rig for tripod use only;

- Matte box??? dont know if I need or want one, thinking in buying vari ND filter and put in front of the lens (the only problem is to change the variation with the lens hood, but same problem will occur with mate box, if sit on a hide will have to put my hands out to rotate it...)

More things that you think will be usefull for wildlife documentary work...

Thanks and regards...

Might be better to ask this in the Cinematography forum. I will move this thread there.

I'm assuming you're adding the 2.3x FOVCF to those lens choices, yes?

You might want to double check to make sure your choice of SSD is on the list of approved SSD's.

Yeah, I don't think the 240GB version is on the list. I'd get 2x 480GB SanDisk SSDs instead, from what I have read the seem to work pretty solidly on the BMCC.
