For english folks:

our dealer in Montreal has received a BMCC just before Christmas (the demo for the store), they made some tests at a big church... Indoor and outdoor I guess. He also said they had 60 cameras (30 EF 30 4/3) ordered and I think (my opinion) they will receive a first batch this month.

He told me that there are close to 10K back order in north america...
i was planning to change my order for a mft version, but since he told me that he expect bm to get over all ef pre ordered version first...
so i keep my ef version as i'm number 5 on the list and they already get 2... so just 3 more cam and i get mine...

BMCC in the snow:

... but of course, "cold" is relative (sometimes extra preparation is required):

Hi guys

Please check.

http://nanukstudios.blogspot.ca/p/work.html

Although I did some tests with the internal battery only and only at an average temperature of -14 ° C, and for a short time, the reason: the internal battery "suffer" with the cold and its duration decreases rapidly.

I will continue sharing.

Nice ! J'ai hâte de voir le résultat ! Est-ce que tu as testé les ssd à 50$ que propose 3di ? Je me demande s'il seront efficace avec le format raw... Je ne voudrais pas me retrouver avec un ssd qui ne fournit pas !

You will get longer battery run time if you look for battery solution that is not so affected by temperature.

Regular internal batteries on most cameras will go empty in a heart beat.

You just have to find setup that will run at least -20 C

You need to make sure your SSD will be fast enough to record in RAW format. In the BMCC manual (http://www.blackmagicdesign.com/media/4 ... Manual.pdf), there are some SSD's that Blackmagic recommend specifically for RAW recording.

As for the dealer 3di synthese, they always sell top-notch stuff, they are specialized in video gear and just ask them if the SSD deal they offer allow for RAW recording on the BMCC. They have tested the camera during vacation so this is stuff they know. Half of the video/software here comes from 3di synthese : )

Another option: Amazon offer some great deals on the SSDs recommended by blackmagic, I bought mine 50% off.

p.s. Any battery of any camera will run out faster in cold conditions. My concern was if the case was able to handle wet / snow conditions (+cold) and I think Peter's link show there are no problems on that side. I think you must plan for an alternate source of power if you use the BMCC.

At the end of the month I take my BMC to Canada and shoot there for 3 weeks in the mountains and out of helicopters in extreme conditions. I let you know how everything holds up.

That's an interesting question, that I try to solve in the moment

Yeah, stabilized lens helps a lot.
I also have good experience with a Cinebag on my lap or by hanging the camera on bungee cords in the copter. The whole point is to isolate the camera as much as possible from the copter or micro jitter will kill everything. Also thinking about a Tyler Mini Gyro.
