Lens gear recommendation for the follow focus.

I have a set of old (60s - 70th) nikon lenses. I now got a redrockmicro micro follow focus. I am having a problem with lens gears that adapt the focusing ring for those with the follow focus system. They are having hard time staying put in place on the focusing ring of the lens as the ring is not a smooth one but an old fashioned one that looks somewhat scalloped (see picture). The lens gear tend to slip off.

Has anyone worked with such old nikon lenses in a follow focus setup and how would one avoid such an issue?

Do those lenses have hard stop?
I have several brands of lens gears, For my zeiss 50mm makro lens I use a Cinevate gear,
I have zacuto gears also, half a dozen redrock gears and some zip gears.

I have started using this type of lens gear belt and I really like them: http://www.ebay.com/itm/180721734710?ss ... 1439.l2649 They are narrow enough that it looks like you could mount one around where the distance markings are and avoid the wavy part all together, but one may work right over the wavy part to. They're cheap enough to give it a try. I used to use big clunky rings and now I'm using belts for all my lenses. The belts are also much better if you also use the lens on a still camera, you can keep the gear belt on the lens without it getting in the way too much.
