Black sun

PostSun Apr 14, 2013 11:42 am

Dear BlackMagic,

I've got the BMCC camera for 3 months now, and I love it :)! Tnx for such a great camera.
Of course we wish to have some things extra's like seeing how much space there is left on the SSD, audio-indicators and more. But I can live without it if I must (external audio with monitor etc.).

But the black sun is really annoying. Costs me a lot of extra work (After Effects, tracking). Now I'm going to shoot in Israël, and there the sun will be a lot in my screen.
Can you please let us know if there is an update coming soon, or you're at least busy with it? Would be nice to get some information from you one's in a while.

Don't get me wrong, I'm really happy with the camera, and congrats on your new 2 camera's! Just would like to get some 'problems' solved :)!

Tnx
Greetings,

Joas

While it may be annoying, I think you are better off learning Resolve and do it there. The tracker is excellent and a power window can cure it in seconds.

Ok, I'm using Divinci Resolve 9 now alot. Just not for 'deleting' the black sun. Must find out how it works. Tnx for the tip. You got an link where someone explains it by any chance?

Just put a round power window over the "black sun", a tad bigger than it is, track and blow it out to white.

Sorry guys!
blackmagic seems to be busy creating new cameras instead of fixing issues on existing ones
it looks like that´s the company policy

Or the two things aren't mutually exclusive? The firmware is being written to be used across all 3.

Blacksun happens when a pixel isn't just clipping it's full on overloaded. If you can set exposure up so it doesn't happen this is far better than a firmware fix to mask the problem, a graduated ND may well be an option if you need to keep the light coming into the sensor up outside of the sky area. To much shooting with overloaded sensor sites and you may damage it.

Yeah. Like RED and Alexa and Canon before them. They all have had the same issue when they launched.

Just because the fix isn't out doesn't mean its not being worked on. I find it odd people think they can only work on one thing at a time. It's not like it's one person working linearly on everything.

I'm asking for an reaction from BM. What can we expect...... Ofcourse I know they are not on this with all the team. But at least let us know whats up ones in a while.. Don't find that very much to ask imho. If they are not busy with it, has no time for it. Just let us know! Then I know what to expect, were we stand.

You talk like a politician!!
"look at the other"
i thought this was the blackmagic forum.. not canon or red
i don´t have any red or canon camera..

IN FACT I DON´T HAVE A BLACKMAGIC.. BUT I GAVE MONEY LAST YEAR

isn´t it funny!!!
i did not get even one email explaining why i don´t have my camera
maybe they don´t have enough experience on technology to send buyers an email.. it says a lot about this company

Most resellers won't take your money until they ship. I'd question a reseller that does ask for money. They're not going to email you directly but rather send out info through this forum as they have been doing. Do you know where you are on your reseller's list? You should ask them.

You need to reload that page as it no longer says December. Also, glad you've found anger as a solution to your problems. How's that working out for you? Is it getting you what you want?

PS, that's to you Fulgencio (no last name)

Hi Joseph Ciccarella
Spanish website is not updated
Anger has not worked for me already.. but it has historically lead to many, many things
I´m not angry because i like to.. if you are not i guess it is because you have your camera.. or you are a conformist man.. conformism has also lead to many, many things.. but i prefer not to be on that side of history ;)

Tapatalk doesn't list signatures so I apologize, Mr. Martinez.

I'm just a patient man, waiting in line like everyone else. I'm also not a fan of angry commentators who hijack threads to bellyache and have nothing to contribute. If you think this is where you'll be heard, it's not. I'm sorry you feel cheated but there are reasons you feel this way that have nothing to do with this forum.
