Phewww! i thought the camera was gonna be out dated before we even got it!

(strange in this digital camera world to be waiting for a camera thats already almost a year old,
never mind i can wait another year, i like what i see coming out of the camera,
i suppose we are all just spoilt kids who can´t wait :) )

The term I see thrown around here the most is "outdated". LOL...just cause their's a new camera doesn't mean the existing one is outdated.

Outdated = obsolete.

We're several years away from that point ;)

It is obsolete when it is discontinued.

It's obsolete when 13 stops is flat, or you can't find recording media for it any more. :)

No, it's obsolete when you can no longer use it...

A technology usually gets "obsoleted" by manufacturers just about when it's evolved to the point of being truly useful, reliable, affordable, and well-supported.

I wonder about tape for my lowly Canon HV20. One day I am going to walk into my local photography store and the miniDV tapes won't be there... I agree with your definition sadly. And in time that will happen with the SSD SATA connection too.

Oh well, let's not think about doomsday scenarios while we're young and in love with the BM cameras.
