A few problems.

I recently received my BMCC but I had a look and found this in between the fan holes on the bottom of the camera. I am wondering what this could be as the camera is apparently brand new and this is one of those annoying things that I know will always be there.
One other problem I came across was the fan not turning on and the camera began to get extremely hot until I blew into the fan and It began working again. Just some picking but this should not be happening with a new camera, right?

Thanks, Jake

For the gunk between the fan holes, it's nothing to worry about. Here's an explanation from product manager Kristian Lam, in the thread Jaime linked to:
Kristian Lam wrote:Hi,

When the camera bodies are sandblasted, some of the sandblasting materials get deposited behind and because they are blind holes, may not get cleaned away properly. This is purely cosmetic and nothing to worry about. It's definitely not rust or battery fluids.

It's tricky but you should be able to clean it off if you find a tool fine enough to get into the holes.

For the fan issue, I haven't heard that one. But you can find a bit more info on that in this thread: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=7071&p=45975#p45975
Kristian Lam wrote:The sensor is actively cooled not just by the fan alone. However, we can look into an auto shutoff when it gets too hot. Thanks for the feedback.
