would it be possible to 4k prores recording on bmcc

The Sensor is only 2,5K, so most likely, no.
You could do a better job of upscaling in Post I guess... :)

Not the sensor size. The sensor is a 2.5K sensor. The size isn't the issue. It's the technical capabilities.
