BMC2.5.MFT active or passive ?

PostThu Aug 15, 2013 8:48 am

Hello,
the Blackmagic camera 2.5K has an active or passive MFT mount ? it's not clear for me
I own MFT lenses without manual iris, is it compatible or would it be in a future firmware update ?
Thanks

As it's said in the technical specs on the site, it's passive. Native, non-manual MFT glas needs active connection for focussing and iris.

Yes? What i red : There are some new features in the software for the Pocket Cinema Camera. You can now focus by pushing the focus button when using an active MFT lens…There will be an update for the 2.5K Blackmagic Cinema Camera soon that will also add these features, plus new de-bayer processing that will improve the cameras sharpness when shooting non RAW files
So is it only speculations or would it be possible to use active MFT on the BMC2.5 in the future ?
I did red the spec but at blackmagic the hardware follow an evolution.
Thanks

The BMCC MFT mount is passive. That means it has not electronics in the mount.

So no matter what is done in firmware there is no way to send electronic signals to the mount.

I understand that, the mount exist with the pocket CC, why not using it with the BMCC2.5 ? I'm just wishing it would be possible. You're right it's an hardware update.
Maybe i should look for a MFT built-in IRIS adapter. If someone experience that kind of adapter, please reply.

Thanks
