Gen 5 Deep dive

PostThu Jun 24, 2021 6:03 pm

For anyone interested, BMD have just added an interesting Gen 5 colour science / technical document as part of the newly dropped RAW 2.1 standalone installer. For those of you out there that do a bit coding, I'm sure it will be of interest.

I don't believe I've ever seen them be open about this kind of documentation either, so it's a welcome thing.

Thanks, John for pointing this out and thanks to BMD. Very good to see these details:

Gave it a look through. Very interesting. I am still having a hard time reading a week out after PRK LASIK, but it was still interesting to check out. I cannot wait to get back to normal vision in the coming month. Hopefully by then Gen 5 Color Science comes to the 4.6K UMP cameras.

I second that Rick. Rest up Tim. Hopefully it will be a nice surprise when you're back in the game.

Thanks for sharing John! Always on the ball. Greatly appreciated. Keen to see how this assists our U12K footage.

Thanks for the well wishes Rick and Travis. Doing a Live Stream yesterday and today, so really testing out the yes. A bit of focusing issues where one eye sees a blurry screen and the other slightly can read the on screen display text. But it’s a good general safe shoot to get back in the swing and see how it all fairs.

Using the P6K and UMPG2 in EF with Sigma lenses and the Tokina 11-16 if super wide is needed. Gen 5 on P6K and Gen 4 on UMP. No one can spot any color differences. Still can’t wait for Gen 5 to come to the UMP cameras.
