Alternative to Tokina 11-16

PostMon Jul 26, 2021 7:32 am

Hey folks,

Like many people shooting on ef mount I have a Tokina 11-16. I'm very happy with the range and size of this lens, however the image quality leave something to be desired. It's too flarey, has a lot of chromatic abberation, and so on.

However when I go looking for something with a similar AoV and better image quality I find it very difficult. The problem is that all the high end lenses seem to be ridiculously heavy (14mm 1.8, 14-24 sigma, etc.) or not really an upgrade image quality wise (14mm samyang 2.8, 12-24 Tokina, etc.)

Right now I am eying the Rokinon/Samyang 14mm 2.4 SP. It seems like a good option but I feel like there should be more, haha.

My desire:

- EF mount
- It needs to cover at least super 35 (rather full-frame so I can use it on R6).
- It needs to be 2.8
- 12mm would be great, 14 okay.

have you tried the Tokina 11-20mm? I had the CF version (EF mount) and it seemed really sharp and very low CA.
