OLPF needed in next camera. PLEASE!!

PostFri Sep 24, 2021 7:31 pm

Dear Blackmagic Design, PLEASE put an OLPF in next camera release. I HATE moiré with a passion. It makes footage look cheap and amateurish. Alexa and RED cameras have OLPF, so why does Blackmagic not include OLPF in camera designs??!!! The 12K is a wonderful camera, but the moiré SUCKS!!! Thanks :)

I hope they listen. There are several users voicing the same request frequently – search “OLPF” in this forum.

There’s also a number of users who appear to be in favor of the current design philosophy of excluding an OLPF.

Currently, it seems like BMD have locked on to the decision of disregarding an OLPF for many reasons. Not matter how small a chance, I hope they reconsider.

Interesting. Sounds like a firmware update then.

Maybe my lenses are not good enough. I didn't get any serious moiré with the 12K.
No, an iGPU is not enough, and you can't use HEVC 10 bit 4:2:2 in the free version.

MacBook M1 Pro, 16 GPU cores, 32 GB RAM and iPhone 15 Pro

I don’t either. But you can find it if you know how to.

In “practical” terms it’s not a problem for the work I do.

And frankly the only time I’ve ever been bounced on a QC / Tech Check was with an F55. And I’ve shot a hella lot of OLPF-less Blackmagic cameras over the years.
