BRAW Player not working [SOLVED]

PostSat Nov 13, 2021 3:44 am

BRAW Player has stopped working for me.

If I double click a BRAW file (P6K or P4K) the BRAW Player icon appears on the task bar at the bottom of the screen briefly then disappears.

If I open BRAW Player from the Windows Start Menu it opens. I can go to File/Open and the open file window appears. However as soon as I select a file and click the Open button the program disappears.

Premiere Pro and Resolve play BRAW files with no issues. Windows Explorer shows thumbnails for BRAW files. It's just the standalone BRAW Player that isn't working.

I have the latest version installed (see About screenshot below).

Can anyone help? Thanks.

Try removing the app through the BRAW install program and then do a new install.

You seem to have an alpha version ? You could try to redownloaded the official version, or try downgrading to v2.1

a18 is the correct build for 2.2 - Pete is holding shift in the about window to display more info which is helpful in these situations (thanks).

Pete, can you go to the event viewer and get some more info on the crash when it happens and share? 2.2 has been tested here on a RTX3080 and RTX3090 but not with the latest NVIDIA driver from a couple of days ago. What GPU driver are you on? Thanks.

Hi, the faulting module is C:\Program Files\Common Files\MAGIX Services\System\mgxasio4_x64.dll which seems to belong to the company Magix - do you use any of their software and have it installed? https://www.magix.com/au/products/

Apologies for the delay in replying.

I didn't remember installing the trial version of something but I must have. Uninstalled it all (took a few goes!) and reinstalled BRAW Player. All now working, thank you! :-)

Okay great, do you know which app in particular it was? Would be good to test and find out why it was causing issues for the player. Thanks

From the Event Viewer it looks like it was MusicMaker.exe, version: 30.0.3.39.

Re: BRAW Player not working [SOLVED]

Hey, I hate to ressurect this thread, but I'm having the same exact problem on my laptop with the newest version of the BRAW Player. I'm on Windows 11, and the app won't open at all. A blank item will appear on the taskbar momentarily, and then the app crashes. I'm on an ASUS laptop running a Ryzen 5900HS and a 3080 with driver version 511.79. CPU drivers are up to date as well. I'll need to view clips next week while I'm away from my desktop, so any help would be appreciated.

Here's my Event Viewer data, though unfortunately it seems the faulty module is unknown, so I'm unsure of where to start looking for a fix:

Using Windows 11
Since installing 18 beta until the latest version the braw player starts but you can't see it unless your background is a light color or white, then I can see a dark grey line.

I get the same error “XXX.braw” can’t be found"....but if I click again on the same file it opens fine.
Ive also noticed this only happens with the duplicated files on my desktop (im o a Mac) but when I try to open the same file straight from the Samsung T5 it opens first try.

It actually randomly worked on my Laptop too for once, but the next time it didnt work anymore. It was from the same drive and nothing duplicated.
