tokina 11-16 ?

PostThu Jan 27, 2022 6:06 pm

Hello,

a seller is offering second hand deal with tokina 11-16 T3 and a camera.

Is it worth it with mft mount ?
Is this lens interesting for BMPCC 4K or studio camera 4K pro ?

I have a Tokina 11-16mm T3 and it is a nice super wide although does have a bit of chromatic aberration. I got the PL mount and with this mount the focus throw of the lens is different and longer. I use an adapter to my pocket 4K (MFT) and also use with both URSA Mini Pro 4.6K and 12K. The mount should not have any effect on the lens itself, but with the PL mount this lens does also have a different focus design.

Similar to Jeffery, I use the PL mount version on the BMPCC4K with adapter and on the UM46K natively. I have the 11-20mm T2.9. One must be careful to manage the flare near bright light, but when that is controlled, good results.

I do have the EF mount version of the Tokina 11-16 T3
Bought it for my UM46k - it is a very nice fast wide angle lens with a little bit of barrel distortion at 11mm.
On a PCC4k you would get a bit more wide angle than with the Olympus 12-100mm - but with much less distortion, as you would use only a center part of the image circle.
It does color fringe a bit at T3.0 at bright edges, but this is well controlled when closed down to T4 or T5.6
Saying "Thx for help!" is not a crime.
