BMPCC4k and Gen5 colour science questions...

PostThu May 26, 2022 7:59 pm

I've finally updated my BMPCC4k to firmware 7.3 and to the newest Resolve, I was holding off for various reasons.

So will all my BRAW clips be automatically shot in GEN5 colour science now? Is there a way to check clips once recorded to know if they are GEN4 or GEN5?

And if I put a LUT on the camera for viewing whilst filming, should this be a GEN5 LUT?

thanks

Yes.

Gen 5 without a LUT does look very dull compared to Gen 4 which still has some contrast.
You will see the difference immediately. There is no way to check in camera because it will record in Gen 5 only. However, Resolve will tell you which Gen it is in the RAW tab and there you can switch from Gen 4 to Gen 5 and vice versa.

Yes.
Saying "Thx for help!" is not a crime.

Hope you’re enjoying that 7.3 firmware update. You may find Focus Assist works best with Green Coloured Lines. Other than that, it’s a great update.
