Camera 7.9 Update Gyro Stabilization Lens Specific

PostSat Jun 25, 2022 11:43 pm

I updated the Pocket 4k to Ver 7.9 and Davinci to the latest beta and tried the new camera gyro. I used a Voightlander 17mm manual focus lens with good results. When I tried to test a Panasonic 12-35 with lens stabilization the camera gyro selection did not appear in the stabilization window in the inspector. I tried the same lens with lens stabilization turned off with the same results. Has anyone else experienced this? Thanks

Yes, I would be in favour of always recording gyro data and leaving it up to the user what to do with it.
My Olympus 12-100 IS Pro switch setting is ignored by the camera and I'm fine with that. I didn't look for roll correction, I test that next.

I was hoping for dual image stabilization using OIS along with the gyro feature.

As has been pointed out before, the two systems are incompatible with each other. Gyro data measures movement of the camera body. It has no way of knowing what corrections the lens is performing. Gyro data would no longer reflect what's actually recorded if lens correction was operating simultaneously.

The camera should at least recognize the switch settings. If OIS is turned off we should have the benefit of gyro stabilization for the lens.
