Broadcast G2 as a cinema camera

PostTue Jul 05, 2022 3:11 pm

I am thinking about buying the Boradcast G2, even though I dont do live production at all. I really like the URSA Body and it just fits the Budget. Is there something that speaks against this? I found little to no reviews, and nobody seems to talk about the camera.

You might have rolling shutter issues (same sensor as the Pocket 6K) and for now it only has gain control rather than ISO (which is far from a dealbreaker but if you're used to ISO it's one more conversion you have to do in your head while using it). I bet if there's enough demand for it, BMD will add ISO control via a future firmware update. Also note that unlike the previous Broadcast model there's no Super 16 window -- just in case you were planning to use any Super 16 lenses or shoot in that format. The 12K Ursa is great for that.
