Bmpcc OG form camera pre-order

PostMon Oct 02, 2023 4:16 am

Hey guys,

It has been a while since I purchased BMD camera now, but have been buying other amazing products
to assist my workflow.

I would like to start petition to BMD to revive old pocket camera form factor.
I believe their strategy is for iPhone to replace that with new app.

Maybe if there is enough of us here willing to purchase, they perhaps may make one down the track.

Nothing too fancy, same form factor, same M43 mount, Braw, I know old sensor is no longer option but even that sensor from either pocket 6k or new Cinema 6k in smaller size.

Resolution 2.5 -2.8k
Better LED screen same size but lot more useful and brighter 1000nits +
Recording to fast SD cards V60 or V90.
Auto focus would be great for YouTube content and this would help sale tremendously.
Longer battery life or at least nice add on option for 2nd battery.
OLPH filter
Global shutter (optional) if possible.

If this can be made for sub US$1500.00 count me in.
I have so much great glass for M43, like many others, not interested in investing or changing my s35 lens system to LF.
This would be really handy camera to have and be very useful.

If such camera is possible and there is lots of interest BMD may give us one !

If you feel the same, please add on your name below !
Here is my 1st pre-order:

I'm in :-)

For me 2.5k and Braw would be everything I need added to the ol' horse.
But of course I would no say no to global shutter and a better screen ;-)

So the list of pre-orders is doubled now:

1. Darko Djeric (Creative Film Enterprises P/L)
2. Johannes Hoffmann (HDDfilm.de)
Apple M1 Max, 32GB, 32 GB GPU – macOS Monterey
almost retired: MacPro 5.1, 48GB, RX 580 – macOS Mojave

Suggest minimum 2880x2160 resolution for the 4:3 sensor aspect ratio supporting Super 16 lenses. Photosites 6.5 microns.

Could this have an optional B4 mount?

If 4:3 is not feasible due to image circle constraints then 3:2 2880x1920 resolution.

Pre-order today for delivery in 2025.

You may be right, Kim, but for those who deliver 2K, it would be another giant killer in terms of units sold. Just like the original BMPCC. To my thinking it makes sense to cherry pick some of the best features and shrink the package and the price rather than follow the “bigger is better” trend. A camera that’s small enough to always be nearby.

Cameras can be a lot like cars. Manufactures may hand-build a multimillion dollar car and make a few of them in a year, but 90% of sales for ICE automobiles are at the lower end of the market. Let’s not talk about EV cars, okay?

I'm in, but I suspect that the iPhone Camera App has delivered the last nail in the coffin of such a venture.

Steve G, you may be right but the Apple Camera App I used last week for about 250 raw (DNG) stills had one still with some horrible strong magenta wash over the image for no apparent reason. I was able to correct the problem in ON1 with a combination of adjustments plus an Effect of a yellow orange wash to get it to match all the other pics.

Now when the BMD Camera App gets the ability to shoot stills, I’ll switch to that and I bet many others would too.
