Can only speak for UK - but it seems shipping from US start of Sept, so preorders mid Sept, if you have not preordered then it could be Dec...that's CVP & ProKit. We live in hope :D

I can't speak for the manufacturer but I imagine that the camerra is a complicated package of technology and it just wasn't possible for BMD to anticipate all the issues it would need to address to bring it to market.

I dont think the peolple at BMD really know yet themselves, beyond their intention to get it out as soon as possible.

I expect that they are sorry to their potential customers for not meeting their delivery target but they have a history of releasing robust products and would not want users to be caught up in a beta development phase.

Too bad it's not going to be ready sooner- I'm meeting with a director and post production team for a television show next week, I would recommend they try the camera for a production starting in september but I would need to test it and have insurance of delivery before sept 25th- it looks like that is not going to happen- or is it possible [flash=][flash=][/flash][/flash]

It's a question I keep asking the people I've preordered the camera with. CVP said to me mid September/beginning of October so that looks like the likely UK released however B&H say "Expected availability: August 30 2012" so perhaps US get it earlier.

I just want it ASAP and it would be nice to have a nice clear date so that there wasn't all this guessing and misinformation. Hopefully it wont be like the RED Scarlett and have a 3 year delay.

is it just me though or did he seem a bit hesitant throwing that date out? I don't think Richard expected Dan to hold him to a specific date.

At this point, I don't think you're going to get anything more than what was in that video. This thread has been here since day one of the forum launch without a single response from anyone.

But, I agree, it would be nice to get some sort of official word that doesn't contradict what some other representative said.

Kudos those that got to get early cameras.

I'd also like to know if "Oh, just another week or two", doesn't keep being another week or two.

The website still says Shipping in August so I suppose we have until the 31st to be worried (again). But yeah.

Ordered on the 13/8th. I don't know my spot in the line. I really admire Hotrod Cameras and I noticed they were advertising a short list so I threw in with them. They charged my card soon after ordering.

Right, they are saying they're newly authorized dealers, and predict fulfilling their preorders in '2 or 3 weeks'. I speculate that they made a large preorder early on and have plans to do an affordable modification ASAP, I'd even hazard they have a detailed mechanical plan already.

Definition of BMCC EF 'Limited Shipping'

On the BM website it indicates the shipment of the BMCC EF as 'limited shipping'. Is this an interim status, initially pending fulfillment of preorders?

Camera Shipping Update: 10/13

PostSun Oct 14, 2012 3:49 pm

Hey guys,

Below is Grant's post from yesterday in the "Update on Camera Shipments" thread. I've copy/pasted it here, so it's easier for everyone to find:

Hi,

There was supposed to be an update posted late last week, however I was offline so could not do it personally. It looks like it did not happen, and no doubt as we have all been busy with the camera production ramp up.

The latest news is that sensors are starting to trickle through and we are testing them heavily and its looking good so far. Its going slower than we hoped because the sensor supplier is testing each sensor heavily to make sure they have correctly fixed the problem, and we are also testing heavily as we build cameras too. This is important as the only thing worse than a delay in shipping the cameras, is shipping thousands of them that have faults. So we want to make sure they are all good.

I appreciate how frustrating this has been for everyone, and its been more frustrating for us. Most people are expecting delivery of 1 camera. We are expecting delivery of thousands, so this means it's thousands of times more painful for us. You should see what a warehouse full of $20 million dollars of camera parts looks like. Its not good.

Its also very upsetting for us because we finished the camera months ago and its a really great design. Everyone here worked so hard on it, then to suddenly get more than 2 months of production delays due to a problem that was totally expected has undone all that work the teams here have done.

The good news is that at least the sensors are looking good and cameras are being built. Just in low volume initially this week. I hope over the next week or so as everyone becomes more confident that the sensor glass problem has been solved that we get increasing volume and people get their cameras. This could mean that cameras start arriving at resellers in about a week or two, depending on how things ramp and how long it takes to ship them.

I hope this update helps. The sensors we are getting are good, and so thats a really good sign. As long as the following batches remain good, then we will be ok. However it looks good so far from this weeks production results.

We are trying to give everyone updates as often as possible, but it takes days to do tests and see how things go, so that means its often a week or more before we have anything to update everyone with.

I will have more updates mid to late next week.

Camera Shipping Update: 10/19

PostFri Oct 19, 2012 10:36 am

Hi,

I was going to do an update today, but I still have not quite got the latest info I need to update everyone accurately. However what I do know is there is a small amount of cameras shipping again, but its slow because some of the testing software needed to qualify sensors before they ship to us was completed later than we expected. However things are starting to move. I hope to have more info next week.

The supplier is quite upbeat though and expects a lot more sensors next week to ship so that is good.

Sorry I cannot provide more accurate info, but I hope to get more details soon and then will update everyone.

Yes PLEASE. However this won't happen.. not going by anything BMD has done so far.

I really hope RED announce a big reduction on the 31st and Sony have something special to show us. I really want to jump ship from this fiasco.

BMD are so out of their depth it's unbelievable. They wanted to play with the big boys but have failed miserably so far.

Camera Shipping Update: 10/29

PostMon Oct 29, 2012 1:35 pm

We are going to give an update in a few days, however we are shipping cameras, but less than we want to be. We are trying to get more schedule information from the supplier and will have an update once they can give us some numbers. We are only getting sensors in small batches, but they are working to improve speed. So we are shipping cameras, but just need to get it faster.

Will have more news soon.

Just spoke with someone

PostMon Oct 29, 2012 8:31 pm

I just spoke with the retailer I pre-ordered through(Hot Rod Cameras) and they said that they spoke with Black Magic on thursday and they had shipped 5 cameras. Hopefully things will ramp up in the next couple weeks, but maybe that will clear up a little confusion as to when they say "They have shipped a small amount." Hopefully most of us could get their pre-orders fulfilled within the month of November.

+1 I read that there were 50 authorized resellers in the US alone. At that rate, it will be 2014 before I get my camera...and Planet X destroys us in a little over a month...
