Wanted to share the second episode of my visual serie called "INSTANTES"

This time is outside my country (Perú) and is about the state of Colorado in the States.
Shot entirely on BMCC 2.5k EF.

Camera Test Movie I presented by MasterPlan Productions. Filmed, edited, mixed and graded by me,Tomas Stacewicz. Published on 25 November 2016.

A Dogme 95 style experimental test film shot on CinemaDNG RAW with the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera and the Zenit-LOMO Meteor 5-1 f/1.9 17-69 mm lens, using the RafCamera M42x1-MTF lens adapter. All shots were filmed handheld using a pistol grip and shoulder brace stock taken from the Zenit Krasnogorsk-3 camera kit, the exception being the timelapse shot which was shot using a tripod. Filmed on location in Kungsladugård and Slottsskogen, Göteborg, Sweden.

General camera settings: ISO 800, Shutter Angle 180º and 24 fps. Night shot camera settings: White Balance 3200K and f/1.9. Day shot camera settings: White Balance 6500K, f/1.9-7 and ND x4 filter. Timelapse camera settings: 10 seconds timelapse, White Balance 3000K (Color Temp raised to 3500K in post), Focal Lenght F=25, f/1.9-22 (continuously stepped down during timelapse; Exposure -3 and Highlights -100 in post) and ND x4 filter. General audio settings: All sound were recorded on the inboard stereo microphone of the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera, with microphone and channel (line) levels set to 50%.

Edited, graded, stabilized and rendered on Blackmagic DaVinci Resolve 12.5.2. Colour correction was made manually using the Blackmagic Cinema Camera Film to Rec. 709 v2 LUT as a reference, raising Saturation to 100 and keeping Hue at level 50, adjusting the final grading with the aid of color wheels to create a balanced RGB profile. Vignetting was adjusted with a 16% maximum Zooming. Rendered to QuickTime containing the DNxHR SQ video compression codec and two cannel PCM audio codec. Enhancements was made on YouTube by raising Saturation +1 and Contrast 0; this level was chosen as a average to accomodate for computers and monitors that desaturates and flattens the original image quality, as well as not exaggerating saturation and contrast on well calibrated monitors.

Pretty much sums up what any cinematographer is ultimately trying to do: Light from Darkness. In my terms: Dreams from Nightmares.

Guided by suggestions made by forum members on BMCuser, I finally uploaded the Test Movie using the DNxHR HQ compression codec wrapped in QuickTime and Ultra HD 4K 3840×2160 resolution. Now finally YouTube does justice to the native CinemaDNG RAW 1080p footage coming from the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera and the LOMO Meteor 5-1 lens!

Shot a music session with the BMPCC, 1080 RAW 23.976, 800 ISO, 12mm f/2

Nice, but you need to use several Mic's, one for each guitar and put the vocal mic you are using closer to the singer, this will help eliminate the hollow sound you have. In a music video, the audio is more important than the video. That,said, the background is too busy behind the singer and is distracting, also the light on her needs to be softened some, as it looks "harsh" or overexposed looking.
Just a few suggestions.

I haven't done many videos in my life and im not sure what this is, but I thought id share it here.
Its shot on a bmpcc with a metabones speedbooster and the sigma 18-35mm.
Obviously it's a personal experience for me to watch, but please let me know if it does anything for you

Very nice, a large step up from most "home movies". A few loose edits, but still very very good. I like the rapid juxtaposition of the different hospital and other images leadin up the the Big moment. Congratulations on a new born also.

Aaron and Kobi, what shutter angles and frame rates did you use?

For the frame rate, I believe it was 24 fps or somewhere in the range close for most of the video. As far as shutter angles, I used varied shutter angles, and it varied with lighting spots.

just wanted to post the latest music video i shot for the song "Ghosts" by Satellites. Local indie band from Cluj, Romania.
Shot entirely with a vintage 50mm Minolta f2 lens and paired with an old anamorphic projector lens. Micro camera was used at 60 fps and conformed to 24 in post.
Edited and colored in resolve, chromakey done in fusion 8.

Thanks guys! this would be the first time i shoot anamorphic (and with a projector lens) and i'm still trying to find the best settings fo it.

Here's a little film I made after dragging my 4.6K around Portugal a few months ago. Super portable style, literally just a battery and some cards – left my EVF and shoulder rig at home as it was too heavy for essentially a holiday grabbing some shots. Also only shot in Prores 422 LT, mostly as an experiment to see how useful the thinner codecs are in real shooting. Holds up pretty well, but it's no 4444 or raw. Grading this made me wish for the extra information, but LT seems totally useable for a lot of simpler stuff.



(if anything is out of focus, that'll be me wishing I had the EVF for bright sunlight).

Very nice James! I just shot ProRes 422 LT for a client at their New Years Eve party celebration. The footage came out great. I have a custom REC709 LUT I viewed everything in on the camera, and it holds up really well when applying that look in the edit. Keeping things simple with LT in the grade is the best practice. It's a very usable codec.

You got some great shots of sunset there along with all the other nice architecture shots. Makes me really want to visit Portugal today.

I think on a few of these I might have taken ETTL a little too far. I also shot it all on Firmware 1.3 before the custom LUTs came out and viewed it as film rather than video as I don't like the generic video LUT so much. I'm also using a custom LUT now that is similar but doesn't crush/peak as heavily.

But even on firmware 1.3, shooting at 1600ISO on a 1.4 lens, I found night shots to be fine. Obviously nowhere near the night-vision of an A7s, but it's roughly about as bright as the eye sees it with some extra grain. And as much as I like a smooth, clean picture, grain never ruins a good story/shot for me.

Loved the footage! I have yet to travel to the mainland/Lisbon, but would highly suggest visiting the Azores Islands. Very relaxing and great scenery.
