Auto-focus is a sleeper launch, because certain design staff/old-timey cinematographers (e.g., Brawley) have fought hard against investment in that.
I'm really excited and grateful that it's getting added to my BMCC6K, and evidently only the existing full-frame sensor cameras, but there's no reason it can't be added to the Pocket and URSA crop sensor line-ups. Priorities? Meantime, the PYXIS 12K's specs do not mention tracking/face detection auto-focus, so it may not be ready at launch for that camera.
The beta promised today for the BMCC6K isn't posted yet.
Lastly, this accuracy will be enough for most controlled situations, but lacking in deep integration with proprietary lens mounts, which simply isn't possible for Blackmagic. Sony, Canon, etc. will still win the field at auto-focus, of course. And we'll probably see that amateurish hunting in-and-out as the lenses struggle to keep up, too.
