Re: EF Lens Compatibility List (Firmware 1.2)

My canon 28/1.8 worked for a few hours today, then all of sudden stopped working. Wtf. What kind of firmware is this.

Firmware 1.2 adds f-stop display on the camera (among other things).
I found that, on my EF 17-40mm 1:4 L USM, while the camera is showing an f-stop change on screen when pressing the arrow buttons, that the aperture on the lens did not change.

In manual on my DSLR infinity focus will start at about 4 feet and there's little room left on the ring for focussing past that. It flares easily, image is poor, hunts around on auto. On the BMCC it's worse or perhaps its the bigger LCD. Its only just usable past f4 on a bright day even then I can zoom in and see its soft. How can people like this lens? Or do I have a bad one?

Image is poor??
Tokina @ 11mm, shot in raw @ 24p with a quick (although slightly exaggerated) grade
I have 0 issues with this lens, indoors, outdoors, upclose, infinity, or anything in between.

Would that be the Canon 16-35mm f/2.8 L II?
footagehead wrote:@macfawlty
That's great thanks for reporting on those Roks. I agree, with such a severe crop factor, you lose some of the sought after qualities of these 35mm lenses. Fast and Wide to make up for it, is essential. Thus why on the GH3 and MFT, Voigtlander and SLRMagic came out with some great lenses optimized for that sensor size. I feel like the same thing needs to happen here with EF, but that's a long shot. The MFT mount will be more suitable for this sensor size.

I amazed after the tests.
All canon EF / EF-S lenses are working.
With BMCC one should use EF-S lenses, as these lenses are specially made for small sensors. And of course using Canon EF-S lenses on BMCC also reduced the crop factor which is mentioned 2.3x on papers...
Crop factor of BMCC (in my opinion) is less than 2.3x, if Canon EF-S lenses are used with BMCC.
