Have you called your regional BMD Support office?

Yes, I’ve been in contact with Blackmagic EU support — for over a month.
The camera was taken in, partially serviced, and now I’m still left without a proper solution and without my gear.
No compensation, no timeline, no real feedback. Just delays.
Honestly, at this point I’m wondering what it takes for a case to be taken seriously.
This isn’t just frustrating — it’s damaging, professionally.

UPDATE – May 13th
I finally received the tracking number… but the camera hasn’t moved.
Turns out it’s been pulled aside for customs inspection. No delivery estimate, no timeframe.

Meanwhile, I’ve already lost a job I was supposed to shoot tomorrow, all because of a firmware update I could have done at home in two minutes.

One month without a working unit.
Now an indefinite delay due to shipping and logistics.
All of this just to receive back the same camera, with the real issue still potentially unresolved.

Blackmagic, this is unacceptable. This is, without question, the worst customer experience I’ve ever had with any brand.

This shouldn’t be happening if the paperwork was filed correctly indicating the camera was returned for repair i.e. not a camera purchase. RETURN needs to be specified on the shipping document.

Thanks for the insight.

Indeed, this should not be happening — especially after a month-long RMA, with all paperwork presumably managed by Blackmagic itself.

My camera was returned for repair, not as a purchase. If the issue is with customs due to a missing “RETURN” label on the documentation, then I believe Blackmagic logistics must clarify this immediately.

As of today, the camera is still stuck in customs.
I’ve lost a job because of this delay, and now I have no idea when — or even if — the unit will arrive.

Support already confirmed the unit was shipped on May 9. That’s five days ago, and FedEx still shows no progress.

After weeks of back-and-forth, firmware installs I could have done myself, and no resolution for the actual freezing issue…
I think we all expect better.

Update – May 17
The camera hasn’t arrived yet.
FedEx shows delays, and the shipping address appears to be incorrect.

Still waiting for a resolution. Let’s see what happens next.

After more than a month of delays, back-and-forth communication, and no resolution from Blackmagic, my camera has finally been replaced — not by Blackmagic, but by a small independent reseller in Italy.

While I appreciate the support team’s responses, the contrast between Blackmagic’s handling and the reseller’s swift, no-nonsense action says a lot.

Case closed.
