Jason

How did you get the skin tones looking so natural?
In another post you mentioned an IR cut filter.
Were you working with one on this shoot and what can you recommend for the Sigma 18-35 lens 72mm filter size?

Cheers

I shot it ProRes at 4500K at ASA 800 with various shutter angles, probably mostly around 45 degrees. I used KinoLUT to start my grade. I like to showoff the dynamic range of the BMCC, so I don't mind keeping the contrast low and milky, however, here I also pushed the saturation to make the colors pop. KinoLUT does a great job of preserving and flattering skin tones so it was a very good place to start. The BMCC shadows and highlights held together nicely, yet again. All post was done in FCPX on my little 2011 Mac Mini. I use the Tiffen T1 IR-cutter, the 77mm circular. You'll need a 77 to 72mm step down ring since I don't recommend buying filters with a diameter smaller than 77mm.

Jason,

Did you apply the KinoLUT in Resolve? I ask because I'm having issue with the LUT in Resolve. I can apply it, but it has absolutely no effect on the image.

Resolve won't work on my 2011 mini so i apply luts using the lut utility plugin for fcpx. Works fine

Shot this last week after the usual race I shoot. Wanted to see what it would be like if I shot the after parties. Edited and color graded it when I had time. It's editorial news type of stuff really, so I went for the quickest output. I shot it all at color temperature 5600K, so correction had to be done for any shot in pure tungsten light. It was very run and gun and there were a lot of windows and daylight was pouring in. So only a few places where tungsten light needed to be corrected.

BMPCC... another promo video. I do these for free right now, to improve my shooting technique, and limited grading skills. I recently bought some lighting, a 25mm Leica, and IR cut, and a macro lens. A lot of low lighting situations here.

I didn't shoot it, but this was shot on an ursa. I watched the video before knowing what camera it was shot on and thought - wow, this was an amazing and expensive camera. Look at the quality! Turns out it was an ursa!

as can be seen very quickly at :37 and then again at 1:03 in this clip.

Here's a cool side by side of ungraded vs graded.

I received my BMPCC just in time for my daughters birthday. We were taking her to this indoor-playground place. I had my camera with me and made a quick stop to buy a lens and sd card so I could try out the camera. And, this is the result! :)
In advance, sorry for the shaky footage and bad editing, I've never done this before :/

Got another video to share. I shot this this weekend with the BMCC 2.5K in ProRes LT 1920x1080. I used the camera's 2.4:1 aspect ratio guides and cropped in post to 1920x800. Graded in Resolve using Impulz Kodak Ektar 100 Full Contrast as a base. Needed to do a quick grade. Image Stabilization was done after grading in Adobe After Effects on a few shots. Mainly the shots from pace vehicle in front of the bike racers as I shot that with a 135mm Rokinon and it needed stabilization.

The event was the annual Killington Stage Race in Vermont. Bikers compete over three days on various stages. The race spans several towns in Central Vermont. Enjoy the video.

A web video series I'm doing for an online retailer. I'm currently doing them without an external monitor... And since I'm also the actor... It's a meticulous process and I use a mic stand as my stand in for focusing. Luckily I just got a monitor... So my shots will benefit from better framing next time. Shot almost entirely with the lumix Leica 25mm with Hoya IR cut.

my approach to BIC video contest.

download version - since YT compression ... - https://www,wetransfer,com/downloads/42 ... 729/45952a

and YT version - https://www,youtube,com/watch?v=2F0gPvrVf7A

i was using BMCC 2.5K EF version with sigma 18-35 1.8

and since i dont have RIG yet few shots were made with BM strap over my neck, in old cowboy style ; )

Here's a small section from a feature length doc we are working on, submitted to the My Rode Reel competition. Shot on the original Blackmagic 2.5K Cinema Camera, EF mount, and Pocket Cinema Camera with Metabones adapter, both using a Nikon fit Sigma 17-50mm f/2.8 lens. Finished in Premiere.

Please vote for us in the competition if you have the time, and like what you see so far. Thanks.

NINJA TURTLES: BLOOD BROTHERS (Teaser 1)

So I shot this a couple weeks ago on the BMPCC with EF Speedbooster and 24-105L. All handheld. The location was basically a big garage with a section of brick wall. So because it was so claustrophobic I wasn't really able to have as much freedom with framing the shots as I would have liked. But I think it came out pretty good. I also did all the editing and VFX work.

More teasers to come as the other characters are built.

Pretty happy with the result :)
