Wooden Camera BMPCC Rigs

Looks like Wooden Camera have had a BMPCC to play with and have now released for pre-orders some rigging gear for those that want to setup a tiny camera.

Looks like good gear, just not sure if it's defeating the purpose of a tiny camera like this?

they're really need to make a HDMI pincher. If you thought mini-HDMI (type c) was bad, wait till you get this micro-HDMI (type d)!

Price feels a bit exaggerated

And I didn't even get a response to any inquiry about more detailed physical dimensions to design and prototype a cage like that.

Looks brilliant, hefty price though.

When you look at similar gear for what they refer to as the DSLR rigs, the rigs for BMPCC look to be a much higher cost except for the basic cage. Strange?

The rig without the quick release isn't as badly priced as some of the other stuff, but ~$300 to add a quick release seems excessive.

The cage is $99. That's not really that bad. I would think if you have any other rig, most of the rest of this kit is redundant.

I own a few bits of Wooden Camera rig parts and I have to say the build quality is outstanding. It's not just a lump of CNC'd alloy.

There is a lot of thought gone into each part. Everything from little safety catches and rounding off sharp edges to how parts integrate into a wider camera system has been thought about. This stuff is often missed on cheap Chinese knock-offs.

The quick release system is very smart if you plan on building a rig that can be switched from fully rigged studio set-up to lightweight shoulder rig in seconds.

Do you need that ease of functionality?? Maybe not... Then build a cheaper rig that takes longer to swap.

How could they get a full cage out before the shipping date while others don't even get a reply when asking serveral times about basic measurements to at least do the CAD work for such a case (and thus have a prototype for final fitting ready when the BMPCC actually arrives.)

They had a camera, posted some photos and videos about it, and worked from a physical unit.

We have one of these (fixed kit) on its way! I plan to bastardise it a bit myself with a Giottos MH621 QR set, and doing the same with some of our other artillery:

Does anyone have any advice/thoughts on this? Its probably just a temporary solution but would love any advice for this or where to go next?

This is simply incredible! I would want to buy one. However, illegally producers will always be after a quick buck by selling fake goods to naive people. Recently there has been a rash of fake iPads, both from the usual channels of fake stuff like Craigslist and the underground, but additionally from fakes slipped in among the real deal at merchants.
