I just received my Solid PL mount. I quickly put it together and matched it with my BMCC MTF. I can't say this enough. Take your gear to an experienced technician. We spent an hour shimming and refining the mount. The result was fantastic. I put on Cooke S4i primes and the camera came up perfect. What a fun time. I highly recommend the Solid PL mount. The guys at Solid really went out of their way to help me and involve themselves in making an awesome BMCC rig. Stay tuned I will post Picts soon.

That's why I got the Cicero PL mount. You can adjust backfocus in the field in a sec, without any shims involved. Just loosen the set screw and turn the tube till you nailed it. Done.

Yes, my choices came down to Solid and Hot Rod. I went with Solid because a friend of mine had a Nex mount theory made and it worked beautifully. That and I found it on eBay for an AF100. I called them up and they gave me the parts to modify the mount at a reasonable price. They also made it very easy to talk to their design team and make sure everything went off without a hitch.

I tried to google "Cicero PL mount" and couldn't find anything. Do you happen to have a link? I have the Carl Zeiss CP2 lens kits which already uses shims in the lens since you can swap out EF and PL mount. Would I still have to shim my PL adapter if I want to use it on the Pocket Camera?

Ah ok cool, thanks! The description says "this mout is shim able" now does that mean I still need to purchase some sort of shims to use my Carl Zeis CP2 PL lenses on this? Also, how would I support this on my rod system?

The shimming of CP.2 lenses is to correct any distance inaccuracies of the lens mount. You need to get all the lenses to the same spec.

You then need to shim the PL mount so that the flange distance is correct.

If you only shim the mount you may find that the one lens is correct but the next is not because the lens is out rather than the camera mount.

I used their mounts before I went with solid because I was woried that if I put a heavy lens like say Arri 40-240mm it might bend the mount. So I went with a mount that was supported by the camera cage and not the camera. Big lenses like Red Primes, Master Primes can put strain on the metal and shift the flange distance.

The mount in the link has a support bracket to help with heavy glass.

Yes I have their Panavision mount. And PL to canon mount.

That looks pretty good! And that mount has a screw that allows you to adjust the back focus instead of having to try out a bunch of shims? Does it come with instructions how to set the focus?

It's to easy to make it worth to write instructions.
Would be as useful as instructions that come with a water tap or a beer bottle.

Just loosen the set screw and turn the tube in or out - no shims involved.

That sounds great! Looks like the mount to get then! Do you happen to have a good link for setting and checking for back focus in general? Want to make sure I calibrate it correctly.

That's easy. Just download a focus chart from the internet and print it out. Place it as far away from your camera as it will still allow you to view it in detail. Focus to infinity and adjust the back focus until the chart is in sharp focus.
