Just noticed that the brand new Video Assist 12G can record BRAW codec, support different cameras like Panasonic EVA1 and Canon C300 MkII camera.

Can Video Assist 12G record BRAW if I am using it with the Original Ursa mini 4.6K?

I just got my Video Assist 12G and was extremely disappointed to learn this. Not only will my Ursa 4.6k G2 not dual-record internally with its myriad of card slots, but there is no way to get a backup BRAW recording out of it.

If I wanted to record a ProRes backup, I'd stick with my Atomos recorder. I didn't feel like it was an unreasonable assumption that BMDs own products would be 100% compatible.

Going forward, BMD should make it abundantly clear on the product page for the Video Assist that "supported cameras" doesn't include their own.

Yea, it does feel a little bit like the cobbler's kids who have to run around barefoot.
