If you are familiar with the field of view on a full-frame camera like the Canon 5D, this lens is the equivalent of 39mm to 114mm. That may not be wide enough. Another very impressive zoom is the Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8. The 18-35 is probably sharper in the centre wide open. The 17-50mm Sigma includes image stabilization and the 18-35mm lens does not.
As Dustin mentioned, the Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 does a nice job of serving as your wide angle zoom on the BMCC with a full-frame equivalent of 25-36mm. The Sigma 8-16mm is another popular choice and is a rectilinear lens, not a fisheye. The Sima gets you a full-frame equivalent 18mm which usually satisfies most requirements.
Check out the very detailed reviews on the German Photozone site and Lenstip.com. Remember when they talk about the corner sharpness or other lens characteristics, that may not apply to the BMCC since its sensor is smaller.
