To answer the question, my understanding is that the firmware updates from BMD are cumulative, so if you simply download the latest firmware available from the BMD website it'll recognize your camera, check its firmware version, and update it if necessary; if you already have the latest firmware installed for your camera it won't do anything.
The only danger to avoid is to install a firmware update that removes a feature you want to keep. For cameras with BRAW support, updates remove the ability to record CDNG raw. But since your camera can't record BRAW, installing the latest firmware update should not remove your ability to record CDNG files. They wouldn't take away CDNG unless they were replacing it with another raw codec (in this case BRAW).
