Just ordered MFT, and

I caved. Can't wait for the 4K. I Just ordered MFT and SLR Magic 12mm & 25mm. My lenses won't get to me for at least 3 weeks. In the meantime, is there a cheap lens, that is native mft and manual I can get, to play with until my slr's arrive? My brain is fried from months and months of research on the forums. Will this Konica Hexanon AR 52 work out of the box? http://www.ebay.com/itm/KONICA-HEXANON- ... 43be9271e5

Thanks guys.

The ad states, "This sale does not include an adapter." so I don't think this is a native MFT lens.

***edit - found a list of MFT lenses

Here is a list of MFT native lens. I'm not sure how complete it is.

Some Rokinon/Samyang Lenses come in native MFT, I believe the 8mm and 16mm do at least, those that don't can be adapted cheaply from EF or Nikon mounts. They also come as Cine lenses in 8mm/14mm/24mm/35mm/85mm, and soon the 16mm will also be released in a Cine version.

Also check out ebay for some cheap Canon FD lenses, they're optically great lenses but dirt cheap because they can't be adapted to Canon EOS, but work great with a cheap adapter to MFT, the 35mm f/2 SSC is a really nice lens that can be had for less than $200.

There are also the SLR Magic Toy Lenses which are exactly what they sound like, but hey they work so why not? Check ebay for those.

A lot of the Lumix peeps on personal-view dig the Rokinon/Samyang 7.5mm.
You can get a Nikon adapter for around 40 bucks, then you can look through a boatload of old nikkor glass.

With Rokinon Cine lenses, do I buy them in EF or Nikon mount for MFT?

As long as you don't mind an adapter, it doesn't matter, I have an EF version of the 85mm T1.5 which looks awesome on my GH2, I'll probably grab the 16mm T2.2 in MFT when it comes out. I'd grab either the EF or Nikon simply because they're the only ones that are Cinema-ized, for now anyway.

One more question slvs. Will this Nikon mount work for me? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Nikon-to-M4-3-A ... 3a83da6964

I don't see many passive ef to mft mounts around.

Thanks slvs.

It should be fine, I use this one ( http://www.amazon.com/RAINBOWIMAGING-Ad ... =EF+to+MFT ) and other than being a little tricky to attach I haven't had any issues with it.

Theres the speedbooster nikon to mft
Then get nikon mount cine rokinons (nikon can be adapted to ef while vice versa cannot)
Boom. S35 bmcc with cine lenses.

I love the speed booster. Definitely sharpens my lenses on wide open

Yeah, if you have the money, the Metabones Speedbooster is awesome, adds a stop of light and changes the crop factor from 2.4x on the the BMCC to 1.7x. Or 2.88x to 2x on the BMPCC.

One more question guys. The Speedbooster, Nikon G to MFT has click stops. The Rokinon Cine lenses have been de-clicked. Is this defeating the whole purpose of having de-clicked lenses?

If you combine a lens with manual aperture control (like the Rokinon Cine) and the Nikon Speedbooster, which has aperture control...which one takes precedence over the other?

I use the EF mount cine lens without the speedbooster and they work great.

So if buying a lens such as the Rokinon, which comes in both EF and Nikon mounts, what is the advantage to getting the EF mount version? Can also apply to Zeiss ZE/ZF, Sigma, Tokina...

it shouldn't that freaked me out as well when I first got it and I almost returned it if it meant i'd have to use the speedbooster's aperture ring. However, if you turn the aperture ring on your speedbooster all the way to 8 (it ranges 1-8 stops) you can use the aperture ring of your lens instead. The only issue i've ran into is on a f1.4 lens the furtherst i could close down to was f11 f16 didn't do anything as I think it starts to interact with the speedboosters mechanics at that point.

Thank you, Streetlightmedia. Gave me a real pause for a minute, lol. I put my order in. If I don't like the speedbooster, I can return it, hehehe. Thanks everyone.

Camera, Switronix PB-70, Metabones Speed Booster arrived. Rokinon 24 & 35mm Lenses arrive tomorrow and I begin shooting. Free version of Vegas Pro came as a bonus. Anyone using this editor? I have FCP 7, no XML support with Resolve, booooo.

I'm using FCP 7 with Resolve, XML workflow works just like a charm. Join the party my friend. :D

Congrat for your BMCC, i couldn't wait for the 4k as well so i took the 2,5k, and i have to say that after being amazed by those incredible BMCC footages, i can't wait to see the BMPC4K power!

Wow, looks like I misread the XML issue between Resolve and FCP7. Am I a happy camper now or what. That money can go towards upgrading my Syntheyes now. I have officially joined the party, johnseventine.

Went with the, Sandisk 480gb SSD, $329.99, Amazon. Bought this SSD dock $25, Amazon.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003UI ... UTF8&psc=1
Formatted the SSD with no problem. Hope it transfers the footage with the same ease. Still on an old 2008 Macbook Pro. So USB 2.0 or Firewire 800 for now. No real time playback, oh well proxies it is. I'll upgrade soon.

Lenses are here. Shooting tests around the house, blah blah blah. Looks awesome anyway.
The Rokinon 24 & 35mm lenses are spectacular. I'm very happy, fortunate and humbled right now.
Many people don't have the money right now. But you will, hang in there. I was there when BMD announced.

It's one thing to see videos posted and read articles about how great the images are out of the camera.
But seeing your own, unprocessed video is another thing entirely. I'll post worthy footage soon. Thanks for answering all my questions, my forum fellow forum friends. I'll be busy shooting and will talk to you all soon. Now I'll have experience shooting with the camera and lenses and will be able to chime in with knowledge for newbies as well.

God Bless.

I never did buy a regular Nikon to MFT mount, so I have no idea what the lenses look like personally without the, Metabones Speed Booster. I may have spoiled myself.

Yes, some time this weekend. I don't have an ND yet so it will probably be indoors. Awesome so far.

Lorenzo,
Your rig looks great! How did you attach the battery to the top of the camera?

What type of baseplate do you use?

Does the Speed Booster causes any kind of picture quality loss?

Thanks!

Hey, therussian. Battery attached using the quick release that comes with it. You can use it on the bottom or top. The baseplate is Ikan - http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/9 ... Plate.html. Very solid.
The speed booster has top quality optics. No image quality loss whatsoever.

You're welcome.
