Has this been mentioned here yet?

According to this video

Sounds like a fan noise?? Doesn't BMD have a QUALITY control department or something or is everything done makeshift?

Some answers please Mr Petty.

It can't be a fan noise because there is no fan in the camera.

This is not normal behaviour the user should contact tech support.

Top part of image from Adobe Audition is a Waveform Analysis (Left Channel on top and Right Channel below), the bottom part of the image is a Spectral View (Left Channel on top and Right Channel below).

First image shows a sample taken from the end of this youtube vid (
) of .588 Seconds, the second image shows the first .0034 Seconds of this first sample. Whilst it does show a sine wave it really isn't being sampled at a high enough rate to know how much of this waveform is squared off.

Numbers are really rough but I get 7.8kHz ?

In his youtube-video MrCheeseCam mentiones that the noise can be heard physically when you put your ear to the camera. This means to me that the problem ain't the microphones but the camera itself. Something inside his camera produces noise that should not be there! As there are no moveable parts inside the camera that could be blamed (no fan, no AF-motors etc.) it has to be something electronic, i'd bet on some voltage regulators. I'd send the camera back - it's not only "not fully functional" but the sound may indicate a bigger problem in the making.

I am not picking up any noise in the demo BMPC that I have. There is some kind of clicking sound when I power it up but otherwise there hasn't been anything abnormal in 4 days of shooting it.

You know if my vacuum cleaner at home is making a funny noise my first reaction wouldn't be to post a video on YouTube and spread the idea around on forums that all the vacuum cleaners are faulty.

Contact BM, send it back, that's the normal procedure.

Thanks for using common sense!
