Does this cable have special wiring?

it appears to be normally wired. When you hold the mini-XLR towards you, with pins facing your eyes:

- left pin is connected to XLR 1
- right pin is connected to XLR 3
- lower pin is connected to XLR 2

You can buy ready made cables specifically made for the Pocket cameras, including a short dongle type adapter cable to any length you need, to go from Pocket Mini XLR to full size XLR.

I know and thanks for your help.

I made couple of those cables myself but I'm having some issues with phantom power. I thought it was maybe because of my cable.

I saw in some other threads that it was mentioned that the mini XLR to XLR adapter cable is of different wiring.

The thing is that when the BMPCC 4K is connected to AC power and phantom power is on there is constant loud buzz (or ground lop hum). When I disconnect it from the AC and run it just on the battery it works fine. No buzz. The mic connected is a condenser Rode NT1000.

Than I measured the voltage form pin 1 to pin 2 and pin 1 to pin 3.

These are the results:

1. on battery
- pin 1 to pin 2 - 12V
- pin 1 to pin 3 - 12V

2. on AC power
- pin 1 to pin 2 - 14V
- pin 1 to pin 3 - 14V

Is it expected that the voltage of the phantom power changes like that?

Phantom power can range from 12-48VDC. So that is not the cause of the bus on shore power. Might be the power brick, try a different power brick if you have one within the required range, 12-20 VDC at the same or greater watt/amp rating as the OEM one.
Cheers

Thanks for the suggestions.

I tried 3 different mini xLR to xLR adapter cables, including retail.
Tried 4 different condenser mics.
Tried 2 ac power adapters.
Different power sockets. Two houses.
A UPS conditioned power.
Camera settings reset.
Firmware update.

All with the exact same result. Loud buzz on XLR mic input only when connected to AC.

Took the camera to the retail store and they said it has to go for repair.

:-(

That was going to be my next suggestion, all other variables eliminated, the camera is all that is left.
I checked my camera and I do not get any buz sound with phantom power.
Cheers

I agree, it appears that there is a camera defect. One of the mini XLR socket pins must be broken, otherwise I cannot explain the hum.

I've been phantom powering an old Sennheiser shotgun since one year with the Pocket 4k without problems, using the BMD original mini XLR to XLR cable. Although I most always power the camera externally with 12V/4A, which is sufficient for full brightness LCD monitor, phantom power, and external SSD power. I don't remember using phantom power, SSD, full brightness, high frame rate with the internal battery only.

Haven’t heard a buzz with my XLR mics that all draw phantom power regardless of running from AC power adapter or my 12V feed from a large V-Mount battery.

Is the Mini XLR input on BMPCC 6K only mono, for 1 microphone, or 1 line input?

It's mono for 1 mic or 1 line input. On camera, you can you can set channel 2 = channel 1 to have 2 mono tracks.
