Zebras disappearing on SDI out - BMCC MFT

PostSat Aug 24, 2013 7:58 pm

I shot a full 10 hour day on the BMCC-MFT yesterday and it was a pleasure! BUT... I found that at least a dozen times the zebras stopped outputting to my external monitor. I would have to go into the menu... turn zebras off and on again... to get them to kick back out to the monitor. Has anyone experienced this problem before?

Also.. does the "video/film" monitoring output only apply to the internal monitor and not SDI?

Love the camera so far!

I've not experienced that. Sounds like a bug. What firmware version are you running? Were overlays set to be on for SDI?

Yup that is correct. The SDI outputs the recording mode selected.

Overlays are on. Running the 1.4 firmware. I also cannot send "video" color space output if recording on a flat "film" setting. The video output will only go to the touchscreen monitor.

Correct. As Adam says, "The SDI outputs the recording mode selected."

Are you recording in ProRes or RAW ?

Zebras turn off on the HDSDI output when you hit record in proRes. In RAW you can still see Zebras on the HDSDI output.

John, ProRes.... and you just answered my question. DAMN! I wish those zebras stayed on while recording. Seems silly that they would shut off.

I do too.

From memory it's actually a processor limitation. You can have the computer make ProRes files or generate Zebars (and peaking) bot not both at the same time ;-)

This is also a real name forum.
