GEN 5 Color Science and Ursa G2

PostFri Aug 07, 2020 3:37 pm

Hello All,

I recently saw a video where they compared the G4 and G5 color scene while using the Ursa G2. Is the only way to use this is via Da Vinci Resolve or is this something that is going to be able to be installed in camera? I love the way it looks but I am wondering if there is going to be a way to be able to use this in camera.

I think Grant said in the video introducing the 12K that Gen 5 Color Science would be coming to the G2 and Pocket 4K/6K. He didn’t say their names outright, but indicated that other cameras would benefit from the color science. I’ll rewatch sometime to double check.

“Benefit” May also mean that we can use Resolve to switch to Gen5 in post.

I believe Gen 5 color science is already available as part of the current beta of Resolve and you can process any previously shot Braw file with it. People have been posting about it.

Now that the cat #19 is out of the bag, test it as much as you can and use the subforum.

Available in the beta but only for MacOS, no Win 10. So as a Windows user, I'm still waiting. ;(

Okay, in video at 30:39

And, so we'll roll this out to other Blackmagic Design cameras later as well...

So it will come to the Pockets and G2 natively in camera based on this statement.
