Remaining recording time on the pocket

PostThu Sep 05, 2013 11:53 am

I found a way to see how much space I have left on my card.

During my first testshoots, while I was playing back the footage in camera, i noticed after viewing the last recorded clip when jumping forward it shows me the last frame recorded. This is a helpful feature because (just like in the old days on tape) you can see how much (in continuous timecode ) you recorded already. In the example below, i see that I recorded a little over 4 minutes. So I know I've got around 26-27 minutes left on the card (according to blackmagic you can reach up to 37, but just to be sure I would be swaping cards around the 32-33 mark)

I didn't knew this feature exists as it wasn't really documented. Did you guys know about it?
