Will the BMPC 4k be able to shoot 1080HD 120FPS or anything close to it like the new iPhone can? Just curious. Seems like if apple can do it in a phone BMD could figure it out for a $4,000 camera w/ a S35 sensor. But I'm sure it's more complicated than that. Anyone care to elaborate?

2 products. Neither is shipping. All conjecture at this point.

The iPhone 5S does 120fps at 720P only, like the GoPro 3.

It is a "legit" question, but it has been asked a hundred times already,
if you had taken the time to search you would have had your answer without insult.
No it will not shoot 120FPS ever!, the reason why is also within your ability to search.

Thanks Darryl. Perhaps I was being lazy by not searching. I was just shocked to see that a freaking phone could shoot 120fps even at 720. Would sure be a nice feature to have. I should have looked. I'll do it now. But hey at least we all learned how to make a font fish.

I feel you, I said the same thing about the Gopro, all knowing that BMD would probably never be able to achieve even 60fps, but if that day comes... Hallelujah! but don't buy the camera expecting it to ever happen

Uhm, you guys know that there is a slight teeny tiny difference in data throughput between a highly compressed h264 stream and the RAW data (or even high bitrate prores etc, plus you would need a specialized dedicated prores etc Encoder and not a general Software one, or a much faster generic Processor for the latter)
And no, downscaling/Pixel Binning with raw isnt that easy either because of the bayer pattern...

So there you go with another Apples vs oranges comparison...

But FYI it would take even more than your simple explanation, You see to record 60-120fps
would take much more than slapping a sensor in front of a BMD Hyperdeck and calling it a cinema camera... Go figure?

Can the 4k camera make phone calls? I only ask because my mobile phone can, and it has a camera function also.
