Footage playback and related operations

I noticed there is nothing about playback footage, and about how to delete clips or format the SSD. Will some of these tasks be possible with the final product version ?

Thanks

I believe playback works, hence the playback controls on the back.

As for deleting or formatting, that's a tricky one. Some people want it, and that is fine, but others prefer those "accidents waiting to happen" functions not to be implemented.

ARRI, RED, etc don't have any file removing functions on their cameras, nor do film cameras (obviously).

I must admit, I'm on the side of the high end cameras in that those functions should not be available.

Then maybe it could be an option in the setup preferences menu

Yeah, I don't doubt those functions usefulness and perhaps they could require a pass code or even just a double warning mega duper prompt.

I guess it just pays to be cautious. You never know when the new intern might accidentally wipe the wrong SSD ;)

Not that I have interns... Yet :geek:

Hi

You can play back footage directly from the camera but there is no way to delete any clips from the camera. All file operations are to be done via mounting the SSD on your computer.

Ah ok good, better... do you think the delete clip function will be available with future firmware ?

Thanks

The user must be able to decide whether to have or not that function on the BMCC.

Im going (when arrived...!) to use my BMCC for documentary shot.
I have to be clever to format a ssd on a kayak or discard one shot on the fly...

2 firmware, 1st with formatting and deleting clip on the fly, 2nd with no formatting or deleting func.

Everything can be a simple option in the setup menu

"Enable clip deleting ? Yes/No"

...and everybody are happy !

For sure Roberto!

But not only "clip-deleting" functions. We need ability to fully format SSD .

Yes but always as a settings option, format can be very risky...

I've heard that lens caps can be risky too...some folks don't notice and shoot an SSD full of black. :D

None of my Ikegamis had lens caps for that very reason I'll have you know and the Canon lenses on them would buy three or four BMCs. :P

Who hasn't put their eye to the camera not realizing the lens cap was still on and had to make it look like they meant to do that. :D

I forget my lens cap is on all the time. I'm pretty vigilant about putting them back on.
