I have the G2. The latest and last firmware that has support for it is 6.5.1. Since you already have 6.5.1, then installing a 6.8 or 7.0 firmware will just give you a message that the camera software is up to date (no action is taken). If for example, your G2 is on an older version, for example 6.5, then installing a 6.8 or 7.0 firmware will install and set the camera to 6.5.1, as that is, as said, the latest and last firmware for that camera. To date, there is no FW feature or function on firmware above 6.5.1 that will be supported on the G2. The read me document will state if there are. There are updates for the Viewfinder so you will get those installed with the latest firmware that has FW support for the Viewfinder. Please read the README docs on the FW download page so you know exactly what the FW is for.
