Hi,
my new Mini Pro arrived yesterday and after some tests I tried to update from 6.5.1 to 7.2 but the Camera App (Windows) is showing "Software is up to date".
So I tried with V6.8 but got the same Info...

Updating the Viewfinder was working!

Any ideas?

It may be that furthur updates have only been relevant to older products like the Ursa Mini 4.6K or the new 12K and the 4K and 6K pocket cameras. I have an Ursa Mini 4.6K which shows the v6.8 has been installed, so something strange may be going on with your camera.

In the support note for v7.0, this is said - "No new features in 7.0 for other camera models."

An email to BM support can't hurt. They are quickly responsive.

I have the G2. The latest and last firmware that has support for it is 6.5.1. Since you already have 6.5.1, then installing a 6.8 or 7.0 firmware will just give you a message that the camera software is up to date (no action is taken). If for example, your G2 is on an older version, for example 6.5, then installing a 6.8 or 7.0 firmware will install and set the camera to 6.5.1, as that is, as said, the latest and last firmware for that camera. To date, there is no FW feature or function on firmware above 6.5.1 that will be supported on the G2. The read me document will state if there are. There are updates for the Viewfinder so you will get those installed with the latest firmware that has FW support for the Viewfinder. Please read the README docs on the FW download page so you know exactly what the FW is for.

Yeah unfortunately that's it. I've emailed them in the past and numerous people have posted about it here on the forum but there's no plans for any updates to the G2. It's a fantastic camera though. I just hate that it seems to have been sidelined in the firmware updates.

I must apologise for some misinformation in my previous responsive post. The firmware version in the URSA Mini 4.6K I have recently repaired is v4.8 not v6.8. Due to the dodgy eyesight which sometimes accompanies grey hairs and wisdom, I misread the "4" as a "6".

So it's funny since normaly the latest version number is displayed, as on my Mini Converters - there are for long time no new features, but all of them are displaying the last version...

Gen 5 and support for the Samsung T7 Shield.

This has been requested for a long time now and just fell on deaf ears so expect no further updates.

As for Gen 5, if you shot in BRAW, you can do a CST on gen5 in post with no problem at all. However if, like me, who needs to shoot ProRes in cam and have it in gen5 so I can hand over the footage out of cam to the client, I’m SOOL. That’s what a lot of folks were asking for but no response from BMD at all.
