Stock IR Cut Filter from camera

PostFri Feb 12, 2021 2:15 pm

Any one here have any experience replacing the camera's IR Cut filter, any model, for these sold on ebay or alibaba? I have seen a whole market for this lately as its pretty commom to happen to BMD cameras even if you store it correctly, silica gel bags and etc, while lens, focal reducers, filters and any other glass things are not affected. Been through my third camera with this problem now.

I could not see any optical difference.

I too fitted the Rawlite to my P4k and it was a significant improvement as it eliminated moiré. I never saw IR issues prior to fitting it so can't comment on this aspect. The mount needed shimming to ensure infinity focus was the same but these are included in the kit. It's moderately easy as a DIY project but needs care to avoid damage and introducing dust between sensor and filter.
