Just wondering if anyone is using or knows of a tool either as software or website to catalogues tonnes of film still images for colour and lighting references? I think i remember seeing something at one point but didn't follow up and can't find such thing now.

The most popular database software to catalogue still images is Adobe Lightroom/Bridge, which is sold as a Lightroom/Photoshop subscription costing US$10 per month.

Another well-regarded option is Photo Mechanic. I use the main Photo Mechanic app for inputting metadata, but there is now a full cataloguing version. It's unclear from your post which version you would need. Photo Mechanic is sold with a perpetual license rather than by subscription: https://home.camerabits.com

You could also look into Kyno, which works by subscription: https://www.lesspain.software/kyno/

I'm not sure if you are looking for just a software tool to catalogue your own stills or catalogues of film still images that you can use as inspiration for colour, exposure, framing, and lighting references. If it is the latest, there is an ongoing project (still in beta) that puts together a database of such. You can check out shot deck - www.shotdeck.com. I've been participating in the beta program and so far has found this resource to be invaluable.

Thanks Ellory. Didn't know about Shot Deck. I've signed up for the beta/trial and sent them an e-mail asking what it's going to cost. I quite like it.

Yeah i was looking for other film references, lighting, mood, colour and all that as inspiration but more importatnly communicate things. So the two examples are great. Keep em coming if there is more.
