bmpcc 4k viltrox nf-m1 with nikon 70-300mm dx vr lens

PostMon Mar 01, 2021 7:08 am

Hi All,

New to the BMPCC arena.

I am using bmpcc 4k with viltrox nf-m1 with nikon 70-300mm dx vr lens, however, the autofocus isn't working. Is that the adaptors issue?

Should I purchase a m3/4 lens? Panasonic LUMIX G VARIO 45-200mm F4.0-5.6 II POWER O.I.S. Any comment or experience with this lens? Will it be able to autofocus with bmpcc 4k?

thanks in advance.

The Viltrox Nikon to MFT adapters don't provide autofocus, VR or electronic aperture control.

This seems to be a new type of adapter. The first one that I have seen that claims autofocus on Nikon lenses. There's a fairly short compatibility list on the Viltrox website: https://viltroxstore.com/products/viltr ... ens-to-m43

In a section called "Test camera type" they say "BMPCC 4K test firmware 6.91 (not support auto focus)". Maybe it still supports VR and aperture control, otherwise the usefulness of this adapter is quite questionable. Maybe they will add better support for more lenses in a firmware update. Perhaps Blackmagic needs to add support for the adapter for it to work, too.
