Looking to build a NY/NJ/CT network.

As the title suggests, i'm trying to build a network of BMCC shooters in the NY tri state area. Being able to collaborate on shoots is my main motivation but, a meetup every now and then would be great too.

My name is Ron, I'm a freelance shooter from the Bronx NY and I own a BMCC EF.

Heres a pic of my baby Image

Wow, two Switronix PB-70s :P about 10 hours of shooting time ?

This is probably a dumb question, but what is CT ? (I stay near Cape Town).

Hi, I'm Dan. I live in NJ on the palisades, have an office in Murray Hill.

Was mostly a hacked GH2 shooter (when not renting) but now am shooting mostly with a BMPCC.

Considering either a C100 or a BMPC 4K.

We should all grab a drink or coffee sometime.

Fahnon here. Also in Brooklyn. Great idea would love to meet up and help others with their projects and have help on mine too. I think it the indie level we should all help each other.

I have an EF camera with a Kamerar cage and FF. For lenses I have a small set of Contax glass along with a Tokina 11-16 and 24-105 L. I use the h4n for sound recording.

Just curious.. fully rigged like that, isn't it too heavy for that tripod???? I was thinking you would need something more robust?

Hey Guys, I'm Ryan and I'm in Bushwick. I work as an editor, but I want to start doing more cinematography. I don't own a rig at the moment, but I'm eagerly awaiting a BMPC 4K. Would love to have a meet up or maybe a Blackmagic sponsored support group for everyone awaiting a 4K! I'm making a music video very soon and could use some help...

Also in Bushwick. BMPCC some Nikon glass with Metabones Speed Boost and the de rigor Lumix 12-35 OIS. Lots of other bits of kit from years of shooting with fixed lens (Sony EX1 most recently). Heck it seems we have a fair number from the "County of Kings" to meet locally. For the entire area AbelCine in Manhattan might be a possibility especially since they sell camera and kit and host user group meetings. MoPictive (Moving Picture Collective) meets there.

Hello, everyone I'm located in Harlem. I'd be interested in meeting up. The BMPC is my first camera, so I've a lot to learn. So far I've an Olympus 45mm f1.8, Panasonic 20mm f1.7 and 12-35mm f2.8, a Rode Stereo Video Pro and a simple DSLR shoulder rig.

I already have UV Haze filters for each lens, but am looking for recommendations on ND and IR filters.

Thanks

Due to the amount of feedback I cant reply to everyone individually, so please except a group high five. I'm glad I found all of you here and I look forward to meeting all of you in person at some point in the near future.

If you go by the spec, my rig fully kitted if almost twice the max capacity of the ace @15-16lbs. At that weight you lose the self balancing feature of the head, but the panning movement is still fluid. The legs seem sturdy with no give or play whatsoever. Haven't really noticed any problems with it yet.

I'd bet that we can setup a meeting at AbelCine that might be reachable by most of us.

We'd need to check with them for schedule vs amount of time we want and what might be a theme for the first meeting. Since AbelCine sells BMD cameras and lots of kit I'm sure they'd be very supportive.

To tell you the truth, I really don't know the exact number. To play it safe I just think of each battery as 4 hours of shooting time.

Take a second and check it out when you all get a chance. It's bare bones right now, but I plan to update it soon. Also, I would like some suggestions as far as what types of content you guys would prefer to see posted.

Hi fellow creatives
I am a NY/NJ based filmmaker. I am shooting a feature overseas (South Asia) in spring 2014. I am looking to engage/hire a cinematographer/dp who owns his/her gear (to add to gear we already have), doesn't mind outdoors and hiking, and has more than a familiarity/interest in horror/supernatural genre (think Insidious meet LOTR). Involves 2 month travel, half the script is a single location shoot, the other half at drop-dead beautiful locales. This project has a serious prospect of being a game changer in its market. Please get in touch to discuss and if possible, send reel/equip list if you are interested at STUDIO2012atLIVEdotCOM
