Here's my problem:

I'm using a Blumax replace NP-F980D Li-On 7.4 100050mAh with DC-OUT to power my Blackmagic pocket 4K.

I've attache a picture as a reference of my setup.

I've noticed that WITHOUT the internal battery the camera do not turn on.

Even more, when the INTERNAL battery dies, again the DC doesn't tuen the camera on.

It seems like this system only keeeps the internal battery alive for more, instead of simply powering the camera.

Am I doing something wrong? Is there some settings I'm not aware of?

you probably not give to camera right voltage.

When you power pockets you should give 12v on Power In:

Two situation :
- No internal battery, camera is directly powered, 22w draining
- Internal Battery, camera is powered from internal battery, which is recharged from external battery 30w draining.

If you have classic plate from tilta (i think also smallrig) for external battery you have two different output, ones is 7.4v and other is 12v.
Check that you have connected to right hole ;-D
Camera should work with and without battery, is also described in manual.

The DC-OUT of NP-F980D is 7.4V and should be used only with dummy battery. The other option as Carlo mentioned is to use an NP-F plate either from SmallRig or Tilta.

Also, if the idea is to use that NP-F980D battery to power both BMPCC 4K and the external monitor be careful about ground loop issue. See for example viewtopic.php?t=118234

I now have a better view of how voltage is meant to work.

I've been tricked from some tutorial without taking in consideration the specs in the first place.

I think the best solution now, in order not to waste the 2 batteries I've bought, is to buy a tilta/smallrig battery plate and use the 12v output to power the pocket 4k.

I will loose the combo setup (monitor + camera) but it is what it is.

I can rig the plate in the back of my setup, using a rod clamp with the battery facing down.

Just to make sure: with the Sony fp940 battery and the 12v output if i plug it to the side power supply i should be good, even with the internal battery on, correct?
