Rode Wireless Go 2 and BMPCC 6k pro

PostWed Apr 21, 2021 1:18 pm

Good afternoon

Just looking into the above for Audio options.

Does anyone know, if I Plug the receiver into the camera to record the feed from the 2 transmitters if I can still have an option to also record ambient noise from the cameras own mics at the same time? and if this is possible how do I go about it?

Thanks
Lee

I’m speaking from the Rose Wireless Go experience on my UMPG2, but yes. You can have XLR 1 for one audio channel and the camera mic on two. I think it’s the same for the Pocket 6K and especially the Pocket 6K Pro with its two mini XLR inputs.

I honestly have been having issues with the Rode Wireless Go. It cuts out too frequently for my liking. So I rely more on a Sennheiser Shotgun on a boom and am looking at getting a Seinnheiser wireless lav system to replace the Wireless Go.

Tim, I think Lee meant to record 2 channels from the Wireless Go 2 plus the 2 channels from the camera internal mics - resulting in 4 channel recordings.
That is - unfortunately not possible. You can only record 2 channels. You can set the Wireless Go 2 to mix the channels together to mono and set this in the camera to the left and one internal mic to the right - or vice versa.
Saying "Thx for help!" is not a crime.

just picking up on this thread..

say I want to only use one of the transmitters and one reciever... I want to plug the receiever into the 6k pro but also still want to capture audio from the cameras internal mic for ambient scratch audio?

is it best having channel 1 set to "3.5mm left - mic" for the plugged in rode receiever

and channel two setup as "camera right"

can someone confirm?

Hi Tim,

That is disappointing to hear about the new wireless Go II. I hoped that they had improved signal strength over the original which is only reliable for the simplest line of sight use. But what about the new internal recording feature to cover the drop outs?

I have also bought into the new Tentacle Sync E recorder which looks great and looks and sounds terrific!

Cheers
