Plastic Covers on Pocket Cameras

PostThu Apr 22, 2021 7:48 pm

Does anyone have a good method to take off those side covers on the Pocket Cameras? Have you just cut them off or did you take apart the camera to remove them in case you want to put them back?

Does this action void the warranty? Thanks in advance for your answers.

Plastic Covers on Pocket Cameras

Don’t cut the dust/moisture covers off. You just pull hard enough that the little knob holding them gives way. Took mine off and put in a drawer as soon as I got the camera.

In very dusty environments, the covers are a good idea to leave dangling when you’re shooting so you can cover the openings again when you disconnect equipment. But for many environments they may not be needed.

Not going to void a warranty.

I can't understand why some enterprising individual or entity hasn't come out with a one piece cover that replaces the current individual port cover mess.

More importantly, I hope and pray for a company to produce a break out box that gives the multiple jacks and ports some needed un-cramped working space (or even full size in/outputs. :D

true, there are so many accessories for the Pocket cameras, and no one-piece side cover. Such a thing could be self printed. Does anyone know if there is an accurate 3D model of the Pocket cameras available?

A breakout box with reliable connection and full size XLR would be a good idea.

Yes! thanks for the advice on dealing with these floppy doors on the Pocket Cameras.

A 3D printed solution for this issue would be amazing. Maybe someone has the model already done. I can access a 3D printer at the local library... when it opens again.

I suspect it needs to be flexible (a composite version of the current individual component mess)

Smear the 'stalks' with a bit of washing up liquid to help ease them out as if you are too rough you could snap them and leave the end loose on the body.

I found a Youtube Video that had someone gently grabbing the base of each cover attachment with a pair of pliers. They come off with a little effort but not much. They have a slight bump at the end so they will be easy to put back on. I'm gonna make a cover out of heavy paper for now.

Yes drknsss that is the way to go. No need for much force if you grab them at the base. Otherwise they could easily break off.

Use fingers as pliers have sharp edges which can cut the rubber if not done carefully.
