Lens Adapter or No?
I am currently in possession of 8 Sigma lenses for use with my Konica Minolta 7D DSLR (A discontinued model) and I am in the market for a cinematic quality video camera I can use these lenses with.
Currently, my only options are: Go with Sony and their full frame NEX-VG900, because Sony bought out KM's digital imaging in 1996, and they work natively with the Sony A Alpha mount. The lenses are technically an AF mount, but are indistinguishable from the A Alpha Mount.
or
Take a really big chance on a lens adapter just so that I can keep these lenses in front of a real sensor with some real dynamic range and go with a BMC 2.5K or 4K.
The Sony is alright, but it doesn't close to the BMC, and because I understand the power of RAW and Dynamic Range I can extract the best cinematic quality image from the BMC.
I honestly want to buy the BMC camera, but I need to figure out if there is a good and reliable method of adapting from a Sony A Alpha mount to the BMCs EF or MFT mount before I take on such a big commitment; I can deal with loss of automatic functions, but if image quality is affected I'd stay away. Does anyone have experience with lens adapters? Is it risky to rely on one? Do they cause image issues? Will my warranty be voided on the camera?
