He is talking about stills - which are still recorded in DNG.

I don't know, Leica make a VERY EXPENSIVE digital stills camera that doesn't shoot video that doesn't have s screen. They actually charge a premium for taking away this feature !

https://www.overgaard.dk/Leica-M60-and- ... age-1.html

Kidding a little.

I think that stills priority is low on BMD's agenda.

I also know that when you go into playback a different firmware boots (and is codec dependent) so it would likely require a "stills playback firmware" which I'm pretty sure would be a low priority than other issues.

Playback is pretty weak in general (although have to give them credit for how well the camera scrubs).

I'd love to just be able to view the clips I've shot as thumbnails? Even a list of filenames would be better than the current situation

YEs! I miss that too. Any overall listing of recorded clips to choose before playback. Playing back blindly as of now is not much helpful

I think the big issue is the UI on this and how much processing it takes. Not only that the screen size, think of some smaller camera screens like the UMP, and it becomes impossibly small to read a list of file names, let alone having a small enough finger to choose or select.

And Digital Button to take DNG, the small one is so hard and the camera moves.

Maybe if you could see the photos on the app..., if the SDK gives access to the recording media. Just a thought.

As much as I would like to see this, I say that if you want stills just record a 2-3 second clip and grab a still frame from that. Then you can get playback to see what you captured. I’ve tested it and it works if you’re looking to get a still image with the Pocket. I changed the frame rate to 50 FPS to get faster shutter speeds and recorded the quick 1-2sec clip. Then I grabbed a still and it looked good:

You won't ever get an answer from BMD.

It will either appear one day, or it won't.

I thought the 80 milajoule pissle feature was going to be super popular.

Does it not capture the still in BRAW on the 12K

If create an option to add a touch DNG button it's so difficult for the team
could be easy let us assign another button
because the small one its the hardest of the camera market :D

Ironically that was what I just did this morning to share. Here’s the frame I was going to share. Settings:
Time-lapse Interval: 0s (10f)
Camera FPS: 30
Shutter: 1/480
ISO: 400
White Balance Temperature: 5600
White Balance Tint: 0
Lens: Sigma 50-100mm f/1.8
Focal Length: 94mm
Aperture: f/2.0
ND: 0.6 (2 Stops)
Compression Ratio: Q0
Image
Captured it specifically in Vertical Orientation to show it is possible. Really loved using the P6KPro EVF for this. Rotated it using Clip Attributes in Resolve and did a quick little grade. Mainly HDR Palette and Curves.

I do it from my first production camera 4K :-)

Anyway, we had cameras that shoot raw videos when people struggle with photo camera to do 10/12 photos per seconds...

I wrote this some years ago

Black Magic, if you can do this it would be great. I really want to review an image. Also, if I could rip out an image of a video frame that would be great as well.

Thanks

Carlos, I was talking about ripping a frame from within the camera. I can do this on canon 4K. Basically frame by frame review then cut frame to a JPEG all within the camera. Can send the image to my phone as to Instagram almost instantly.

I understand what you mean, but not with these devices
you can do only with cameras that had Wi-Fi connection like reflex or mirrorless where app and camera are developed for it
I do that from my Lumix Gh5 and Fuji in the last four years.
Blackmagic Design had bt only and only to manage data, not to send picture. JPEG algorithm Are just Inside on photo camera, not in Blackmagic Design cameras, also if you can extract a picture you should manage a way to grab it from support, that involve a card or ssd reader from smartphone.
This kind of function is a bit far from cinema camera feature.
