Rode Wireless go 2 UMPG2

PostWed May 12, 2021 6:47 pm

Hoping someone can help me. I’ve just bought the rode wireless go system, one Reciever with 2 mics sending audio on individual channels to the Reciever. However, when connecting to my umpg2, I can’t get the second mic to work and the first mic outputs a stereo signal dispute the source being mono. I have my ump set to xlr1 input. The second mic doesn’t connect at all but it’s routed through the second channel of the Reciever. It works if I combine the 2 mics into a mixed stereo signal though.

Anyone had any luck getting both mics on separate channels into the umpg2?

Thanks

Abdoul, which adapters are you using?

From the Rode FAQ:

Q.
Can I connect the Wireless GO II to devices with XLR inputs?

A.
Yes. This is possible using the supplied SC5 cable or any other TRS to TRS cable and the VXLR Pro or VXLR+ adaptor to convert the signal. You can even use the SC11 splitter cable and two adaptors to break out the Wireless GO II's two channels onto separate output jacks for dual channel recording.

im using the supplied 3.5mm cable to a VXLR adapter that goes straight into the UMPG2. Ive read about the splitter cable but it sounds as if they're talking about using that as a solution for using 2 receivers. Im unclear of a solution to get the 2 signals from both transmitters on their own independent channels on the UMP. so confused right now. Thank you though

The XLR inputs of the camera are mono only. So you would need the the splitter cable and two VXLR adapters to get your two signals into the camera.
