BMC Pocket: Manfrotto 502HD head & 190cxpro4 legs

Hi All,

I've ordered a Blackmagic pocket camera. according to the vendor (in the Netherlands) it will delivered next week. I have the Manfrotto 190cxpro4 legs that I use with my Nikon DSRL. These legs are lightweight (carbon fiber), small but pretty stable.

I've ordered te new Manfrotto 502HD fluid video head. There are a lot of good reviews of this head. But it's not the best combination with the 190cx legs (these legs are not designed for video), but hope to keep the combination and the Pocket camera lightweight and not too expensive.

I'll extend the setup later with a rig. Are these legs and video head a good addition to the blackmagic Pocket?

I can't speak for the legs, but I have that exact head and it's fantastic. Far better than anything else I've used at a similar price range.

Same here don't know about the legs but I have the head and I like it a lot.
So much that I actually got a spare one as backup since its really cheap (got one on ebay for 150$).
I had a sachtler before that I sold, no regrets.
At that price I don't think you can get any better.
Maybe you should think about new legs and the head with the bowl mount.

I've ordered the flatbase head, but maybe when I have other legs I can buy a "converter" from flatbase to bowhead.

Will it be very difficult to get the horizon right without a bowl head?

Unless you're planing on using it on really uneven terrain, I wouldn't say it's that difficult. It's just rather fiddly; and you often have to sacrifice the maximum height of your tripod.
